Many people prefer telehealth for the convenience, comfort and safety it provides. You’ll never risk spreading or getting germs on sick days. You don’t need to fight traffic, pay for parking/gas, or even shower. You get to meet from the comfort of your couch, the convenience of your office, or the privacy of a parked car. Put up your feet and curl up with your pet, or close your office door during lunch and login.
Log on, log off - it’s that simple. Read more about The Perks of Online Counseling on my blog.
I value your privacy and use My Best Practice, a HIPAA-compliant EHR platform for online sessions and note-taking.

Sometimes, the challenges we face can’t be solved on our own. I help clients go beyond their symptoms and target the actual issues at hand.
This might be the right time for counseling if you’re struggling with persistent, troubling thoughts or feelings, are overwhelmed by events that are out of your control or just want to get in touch with a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in your life. No matter the size or complexity of your problems, it simply helps to know you’re not alone.
I provide a safe place to address issues that are too difficult or complex to share with others. There’s no need to worry if you’re talking too much, being a burden or are too much to handle - you’re not. Time will be dedicated to you and what you are going through.

Duration depends on your goals and unique situation. As your needs adjust, so will the frequency of sessions.
Engaging in counseling regularly will help you to grow and improve, but change doesn’t often come overnight. Some clients need only a few sessions to achieve desired outcomes while many clients find value from participating in counseling for 10 to 20+ sessions. I recommend starting with weekly sessions to increase effectiveness and reduce symptoms, and then decreasing frequency when you are confident you have gained skills to better manage or prevent undesirable symptoms.
Once you are satisfied with the progress you’ve made, seeing me can be a lot like going to your doctor for wellness check-ups. You may want to come back for routine mental health maintenance here and there to refresh, reenergize and refocus. I call maintenance appointments “refreshers” because they reinvigorate and remind us to live with greater intention.

I occasionally offer family sessions to help my teen clients foster healthy communication and relationships within their families. However, I do not offer family or couples counseling on a regular basis. I am aware of my strengths and limitations as a counselor and stick to what I very much enjoy and thrive at—counseling individuals.
Because I strive to provide the best possible care, I will always refer a client to another professional or program if at any point I assess their needs to be beyond my scope of practice.
Integrity is important to me and I want to see you thrive.

Sometimes I’m tempted to accept a friend or acquaintance as a client, especially when it’s clear our work would yield excellent results.
There are however, many valid reasons for why it’s in a client’s best interest to work with someone they do NOT know. (Stay tuned for my blog post on this.)

All counseling and clinical supervision is done online.
Meeting online might be easier and more effective than you think. Here are Practical Tips to Maximize Your Online Therapy Experience.
-
Access your HIPAA-compliant sessions through the My Best Practice client portal. Meeting links will be available 15 minutes before your appointment.
If the connection is poor or we get disconnected, please text me so we can decide whether to switch to FaceTime (not HIPAA-compliant), Google Meet, or reschedule.
-
To cancel or reschedule, please contact me at least 24 hours before your scheduled session. A $150 fee (the full session amount) will apply if you do not provide 24 hours’ notice, except in cases of emergency. This fee will be waived if a makeup session occurs within the same week, subject to availability.
Appointments will end at the scheduled time, even if the client is late logging in.
