CLINICAL SUPERVISION

As your supervisor, my primary focus is to foster your growth as a confident and skilled counselor while ensuring the safety of your clients. My role is to support, encourage, and challenge you. 

I strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable sharing both your struggles and success.  To achieve this, I model and promote humility, transparency, and a growth mindset.  Counseling is complex and can be rough, to say the least. Together, we’ll navigate the emotions and challenges you’ll face–and can even have fun along the way.

Best practices in supervision include:

• Regular Feedback and Reflection We will review sessions, analyze your responses, and offer constructive feedback to help you refine your skills.

• Practical Application You will have opportunities to practice new techniques, discuss client interventions, and improve your clinical work.

• Ethical Decision-Making We'll explore how to handle complex ethical dilemmas in ways that prioritize client welfare and adhere to professional codes of conduct.

• Client-Centered Care A core focus will be ensuring you work consistently with clients' values, rather than imposing your own, while remaining aware of personal biases.

• Encouragement of Self-Care I will emphasize the importance of self-care practices to prevent burnout and maintain emotional well-being, ensuring you’re in the best position to help your clients.

• Open Communication We'll maintain a safe space for honest dialogue about your experiences, challenges, and areas for growth, allowing for transparency and support throughout the process.

Our weekly one-on-one meetings will provide consistent opportunities for discussion, skill refinement, and reflection to help you become more effective and intentional in your approach. Together, we’ll build your competence as a counselor while ensuring your work remains ethical, thoughtful, and aligned with the needs of your clients.
